How Ellen got started


"I am a runner and have completed multiple marathons and  four ultra marathons.  I also enjoy competing in shorter distances (5K to 10K),  and with instruction from Tom Tellez (former University of Houston and  Carl Lewis' Coach), I started winning age group awards -- but we're not  saying which age group!"


Running Clubs/Memberships:

  • Al Lawrence Running Club
  • Houston Area Road Runners Association (HARRA). In 1996, I was on a team of HARRA master's women who established a Guinness Book of World Records record for the masters women's 100 x 1-mile relay.
  • Power in Motion (PIM) which is  affiliated with HARRA.
  • Kenyan Way on Saturday mornings.


With  a gentle push from my long-time friend, Carl Lewis (Olympic Champion  and Author of "One More Victory Lap" (1996), I began organized strength  training in 2001 and used a Personal Trainer. I enjoyed my own results  so much, I decided to help other runners improve their performance, as  well as help other individuals meet their health and fitness goals.


Personal Training Certifications:

  • ACE (American Council on Exercise)
  • P.F.I.T. in association with the American College of Integrative  Medicine
  • Pilates Mat instructor by Powerhouse  Pilates
  • Sports Conditioning Specialist by the International  Fitness Professionals Association (IFPA)
  • Golf Conditioning  Specialist with the IFPA

Other:

  • Ambassador Trainer/Certified Balance Specialist with Zibrio -  the Balance Company)
  • Aquatic Exercise Association  (AEA)
  • IDEA Health and Fitness Association
  • Lifetime Member Weight Watchers


Mission Statement:


Personal training should be personal  and fitness should be fun.
